Our Circuit For Science

In science we had to make circuits that could meet a certain amount of voltage our group had to make it to 6 volts which was pretty easy

"Evaporation"

Why Can A Dissolved Solute Not Be Filtrated?

Because when you mix things together like salt or sugar and it dissolves you wouldn't be able to filter it because the salt would have like merged with the water cause the particles are the same size.

What Is Evaporation?

Evaporation is when you get some particles and they are different sizes and then for example if you add like pebbles to water or something then the pebbles get drained out of the water and becomes more clear

How can evaporation be used to separate a solute from a solvent in a solution?

When you have something out and leave it in some heat and then the liquid evaporates and all that is left is the solid so that could make crystals

Hurumanu Water Cycle

Materials:
Water/Soda Water
Bag
Food Colouring
Litmus Paper
Vivid
Sand

Steps:
1. Get the vivid and the bag from the teacher
2. Draw a diagram on the bag and label it
3. Get 1 cup of water from the teacher and put it in the bag
4. add 2 drops of food colouring in the bag
5. Hang the bag up on the window
6. In bag 2 add litmus paper

The Water Cycle: Bag 1
CO2 Water Cycle: Bag 2
Acid
Desert Water Cycle
Bag 3
Does it cycle?
YesYesYes
Amount of Water
222
Acidity
131

Key: Water and acidity amount: 1 = none
2 = small
3 = large

Other Comments:
Bag 1
1. Bag 1 Cycled Water
2. Bag 1 had a small amount of water
3. The acidity in bag 1 was low
Bag 2
4. Bag 2 Cycled Water
5. Bag 2 had a small amount of water
6. The acidity in bag 2 was high
Bag 3
7. Bag 3 Cycled Water
8. Bag 3 had a small amount of water
9. The acidity in bag 3 was low

Conclusion:
Bag 1
Bag 1 Cycled water there was a small amount of water and a no acid in bag 1 aswell.

Bag 2
Bag 2 Cycled water there was a little bit of water and a large amount of acid in the second bag.
Bag 3
Bag 3 Cycled water there was a small amount of water and a small amount of acid in bag 3 because it was sand.

Define These Words:
Acidification: The action of making acid. It is an ongoing decrease in earth's PH. FreshWater fish have appeared to be acidifying. People make acid.  I don't know what effect it has because I don't know what acidification is.

Deforestation: When you clear trees. You make a grass place from were cut down the trees. it is the destruction of trees in an area to make more space. it is not permanent because you can just regrow the trees. This will affect climate change because they will cut down too many trees

Water Vapour: the evaporation of water. It can evaporate when you use boiling water. Water also evaporates it comes off waterfalls. Water Vapour is invisible.  This will affect climate change because it will make rainfall from the sky.

Ice Melt: When ice is not in a cold place it melts. It could also melt when it is on water or floating. You can make a type of powder. Sometimes ice comes in the form of flake. This has an effect on climate change because it will make the water levels rise.

Climate Change Science (Hurumanu)

In Science we have been learning about climate change here is my work

Aim: To look at the causes of climate change and how to prevent it.

As you watch the video answer these questions:

What is our greatest threat in thousands of years?

How do we see climate change affecting the globe?
  1.  Floods
  2. Strong Winds
  3. Big waves
  4. Greater heat waves

What is needed to change history?
Stop any human activities that are causing climate change happen

Is climate change a man made disaster?
yes

Dramatic action must be made in the next 10 years to change it?
10 ( a decade )

Why is our climate changing?
 our world is getting hotter

What is causing the warming trend of the climate?
Human activities using and of fossil fuels
What is the main problem?
People are using to much fossil fuels

What are examples of these?
coal,gas and oil

Burning fossil fuels releases what gas?
Carbon dioxide

How much hotter now is our world?
1 degrees hotter then prehistoric times

What do we call this global warming?
Climate Change

How is this affecting creatures / animals like bats?
bats are dead because of the heat

What percentage of species are near extinction?
50% of bats could go extinct

How could this effect the world ecosystems?
It would get to hot for all the animals and they could die or go extinct

What global change was seen and recording breaking last year?
more then half the word could see record breaking heats by 2100

How is climate change affecting our weather systems?
1. Antarctica
2. Australia
3. Amazon Jungle

What is another effect of climate change?
Earths ice is melting

What will happen if the ice melts in Antarctica and the Arctic?

How does this affect people?
they could get heatstroke and even die

What other things affect oceans change?
The ocean is expand because 90% of the heat is kept in the ocean

What does to much heat do to coral?
it can kill  coral

Why did some industries not want to stop burning fossil fuels?

Stop at 23.39

Investigation

You can decide on how you would like to do this investigation. Your presentation could be on the blog, slides, or Powerpoint.

Write a definition, upload an image and list where these fossil fuels are mined.

  1. Coal
  2. Natural Gas

Write a paragraph and upload an image about each of these renewable energy.

  1. Solar power is trapping heat in and then turning it into power. Spain and Germany use solar power the most. Germany has installed thousands of solar panels in there country. they have installed over 32,00 solar panels. So good and it is sustainable.
  2. Wind, wind turbines spin and create energy. Did you know that the french have used a capacity of over 10,300 megawatts. An then even Canada  then the united kingdom by only a little bit. there are 8 countries that produce the most wind power.
  3. Waves
  4. Hydro Canada has the most hydro energy. Did you know that NZ uses hydro energy as well. we use it because we don't get enough sun and it is not all ways windy. You build a hydro dam to hold the water then you spin it around to make electricity.with hydro power it is nothing is burned so it makes minimum pollution.

Write a 6 sentence reflection about what you have learnt about Climate Change and how it is going to affect us.
something that I have learnt
Global climate change has already had observable effects on the environment. Glaciers have shrunk, ice on rivers and lakes is breaking up earlier, plant and animal ranges have shifted and trees are flowering sooner.Effects that scientists had predicted in the past would result from global climate change are now occurring: loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves.
